This 13 Day Kenya and Uganda Safari takes you to some of East Africa’s most iconic national parks and reserves, including Samburu National Park, Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Lake Nakuru National Park, Masai Mara National Reserve, Kibale Forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Get ready to witness an incredible array of wildlife, stunning scenery, and rich cultural encounters.
Day-by Day Itinerary
Early morning after your breakfast, our guide/driver will pick you up from your booked Hotel in Nairobi for pre safari briefing shortly after which we transfer to Samburu National Reserve travelling towards Northern Kenya. Enjoy a scenic drive through Nairobi suburbs and Mount Kenya ranges with an enroute stop at the Equator Point in Nanyuki. We to arrive to Samburu Simba Lodge, our booked camp in Samburu National Reserve in time for a relaxation then have a tasteful lunch before head out for our first game drive in Samburu National Reserve. At sundown, we return to camp for dinner and overnight stay.
We enjoy this full day of game viewing in the wilderness of Samburu National Reserve split between an early morning game drive and the late afternoon to evening game drive. The ecology of Samburu is defined by the contrasting habitats of riverine forest along the Ewaso Nyiro and austere acacia scrub and rocky slopes extending outward from it. We will explore the major reserve in Samburu comprising of Samburu Buffalo Springs that offer the best chance of sighting leopard in Kenya, and lion, elephant and buffalo are also quite common. The main attraction, however, is a host of dry country specials absent or rare in most other East African parks. Among there are mammals, such as Beisa oryx and gerenuk, and a long list of birds of which the cobalt-chested vulturine guinea fowl is the most spectacular After collecting full day unforgettable memories, we will return to camp for dinner and overnight stay
This day begins with our last warm cup of coffee at Samburu Simba Lodge before packing up and jump into our pop-up roof 4×4 safari Land Cruiser to depart for Ol Pejeta Conservancy, famed for its rhino sanctuary and chimpanzee rescue center. You'll have a chance to visit these conservation efforts and learn about the wildlife protection projects. In the afternoon, head out for a game drive, with the possibility of seeing the "Big Five" and other species. Tonight we stay overnight at Maisha Sweetwaters Camp, our booked comfortable camp, soaking in the serenity of the conservancy.
This morning we enjoy a hearty breakfast at Maisha Sweetwaters Camp before we checkout and depart for Lake Nakuru National Park. Enjoy yet another scenic drive down to a lower-lying region of the Great Rift Valley to arrive to Lake Nakuru National Park just in time for lunch. Enjoy a typical African crusine meal at Sarova Woodlands Nakuru shortly after which we embark on an evening game drive in the Park. Lake Nakuru itself is renowned for its breathtaking bird sightings; with over 400 bird species recorded, the alkaline lake is a popular spot for both greater and lesser flamingos. Additionally, the park has been designated a black rhino sanctuary, so we may get to see these magnificent creatures in their natural environment. Other animals we might encounter include lions, leopards, waterbuck, reedbuck, hippos, baboons, pelicans, and cormorants. At the end of this day, we willl return to our accommodation for a delicious dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, we say goodbye to Lake Nakuru to embark on a drive to Masai Mara National Reserve. Enjoy yet another scenic drive through the scenic views of the Great Rift Valley before arriving to Enkorok Mara Camp to check in just in time for lunch and relaxation at camp. We later head out for our first evening game drive in the Masai Mara. The Masai Mara is Kenya’s most celebrated wildlife reserve, and arguably its best. The park is dominated by open grassland, interspersed with rocky hills, acacia woodland, and riparian forest. Game viewing here is excellent and rewarding, from the big five to and a huge number of other various wildlife species are easily seen without much strain. At sun dawn we take advantage of the photographic moment then return to accommodation for dinner and overnight stay
The next 7 to 10 hours are spent game viewing in Kenya’s leading Masai Mara National Reserve. We will embark on full day game drives with picnic breakfast and lunch served in the bush to spend more time in the Wild. We will have this full day to track the resident wildlife in Masai Mara National Reserve. After the thrilling day of magnificent game viewing in Masai Mara National Reserve, we retire at our accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.
This morning after breakfast, we say goodbye to The Masai Mara to embark on a drive to Lake Naivasha arriving to Lake Naivasha Country Club to check in just in time for lunch and relaxation at Lodge. This afternoon we take on a boat safari on Lake Naivasha to visit Crescent Island for a guided walking safari. Crescent Island hosts grazers like the Giraffe, Zebra, Impala, Grants Gazelle, Common Waterbuck and Buffalo. After this adventurous evening, we retire at our accommodation dinner and overnight stay.
Enjoy a lazy wakeup at the lodge and after your breakfast, we say goodbye to Lake Naivasha to embark on a drive to Nairobi continuing to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight to Entebbe, Uganda. Upon Arrival to Entebbe International Airport, our driver will be there to meet you and transfer to Best Western Premier Garden Hotel Entebbe for a leisure evening at the Hotel and overnight stay
Enjoy an early breakfast after which you will be met by your guide who will transfer you from Entebbe to Kibale Forest National Park via Fortportal and having great views; you will have lunch en route. Upon Arrival to Rubalika Safari Lodge, our booked Lodge in Kibale, we will have a leisure evening by the Riverside to unwind the day’s drive. Later Dinner will be served and an overnight stay.
We can enjoy a lazy wakeup this morning to our warm breakfast or plan for an optional activity for this morning. Among the optional activities we can consider the a hike through the Lodge’s farm land offering a chance to learn about coffee cultivation and processing, vanilla and goat rearing in an African setting. Alternatively, we could head out for a crater lakes tour or the popular Bigodi Swamp Tour. Lunch will be served at the Lodge after which we will transfer to the park head offices for briefing. After briefing, we start chimpanzee trekking through this rainforest as you will be guided by the park rangers. It is always a thrilling and unforgettable experience meeting chimpanzees face to face and watching them engage in their daily activities like playing, jumping and feeding. Other wildlife species can be spotted such as the grey-cheeked mangabeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and also different birds. We will be handed our chimp tracking certificates after this experience then embark on a drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park arriving to Buffalo Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Enjoy a lazy wake up to later have your breakfast afterwhich we checkout Buffalo Safari Lodge to embark on a mid morning boat safari along the Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Lunch will be enruote shortly after which we will continue on a drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park passing via the Isasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park for possible Tree climbing lions sighting. We arrive to Ride 4 a Woman, our booked Lodge in Bwindi for a relaxation and later dinner and overnight stay
After early morning breakfast, we drive to the Buhoma Gorilla sector headquarters with our packed lunches for registration and briefing on the tracking etiquette A total of 8 visitors are allocated a single gorilla family to trek, you will receive trekking sticks and head to the jungle in company of the park rangers and guides. The trek may lasts about 3 – 6 hours spent in search of the gorillas however only 1 hour has spent the presence of these gentle giants. At the end of this memory-filled 1 hour, you return to the park headquarters where you receive a Uganda gorilla trekking tour certificate. You will then meet with our safari guide/ driver to transfer back to our booked Lodge for a Leisure evening, dinner and overnight stay
This morning we bid farewell to Gorilla Land after a warm breakfast we embark on a drive back to Kigali via the Katuna or Cyanika, Uganda - Rwanda land border crossing point. Our guide will assist you with the formalities which will be seamless then continue into Rwanda on a scenic drive to Kigali. Arriving in the city, our driver will drop you off at your own booked Hotel to mark the end of our magical 13 Day East African Safari.
